HaPpY Go TeAcH – LOS ANGELES: A Stand-Out Two Day Event for K-6 Teachers

Join Jen & Kayla for two full days of K-8 professional development like no other! They like to think of it as #flippedPD. They are so excited to co-facilitate two days that are totally aligned with 21st century teaching and learning expectations. What does that mean exactly?  It means, no sit’n’get PD at the HaPpY Go TeAcH conference. Your days will be designed, delivered and created in real-time formats, structures & protocols that they believe teachers will easily be able replicate back in the classroom. It will be nothing short of energetic and motivational days full of active participation and practical application of the essential skills of the 21st century; creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, content innovation and confidence.
Happy Go Teach is like no other teacher professional development on the market. Our conference will have you moving, grooving, agreeing and disagreeing, working in group challenges, problem-solving and persevering, creating and innovating, critiquing and evaluating, producing and presenting.  It is Jen and Kayla’s mission to create a day very similar to the ones that are expected at school each and every day, and one that is rigorous, engaging, hands-on, progressive, inspiring and FUN!  
Jen & Kayla believe that when teachers dress up, they teach up. However, this day will be such a hands-on, whole body, criss-cross applesauce sort of day, they want you to be as comfortable as possible. So, leave the dresses at home and come in jeans and sneakers…you never know what these collaborative projects will have you doing, saying or creating.  Jen and Kayla also want you to bring your iPad and have your social media accounts in order, because the day will be trending around the globe! 
We hope you will consider joining our HaPpY Go TeAcH learning community on Friday and Saturday, August 31 & September 1, 2018, for an incredible two days of teaching and learning together with 200 of the most amazing educators on the PLANET!!! All of their previous conferences have been one day, but due to popular demand, we are turning the conference into a two day event. If you couldn’t make it to Orlando, Palm Springs, Raleigh, Minneapolis, Houston, now is your time!
The conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza LAX in Los Angeles, CA. The hours on Friday, August 31, 2018 will be registration at 8:15am, conference at 9am, ending at 4pm. Saturday, the conference begins at 9am and ends at 3pm.  You are welcome to make hotel reservations at the Crowne Plaza LAX or any of the nearby hotels. There are also some great little AirBnBs near the hotel, too. We realize that many of the Los Angeles attendees will be coming from the LA area, but if you need a hotel room, email us at happygoteach.com. We only have a small block for the conference.  There will a break in the morning and a break in the afternoon and you will have a 75-minute “on your own” lunch. There are 5 restaurants in the conference hotel and lots to eat and drink within a few blocks of the hotel.  

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
For this event, you will want to drive or fly. The nearest airports are Los Angeles Internation Airport (LAX), only 0.3 miles away from the conference center. There is a complementary Ground Transportation at the airport to the Crown Plaza LAX, or use Uber. If you drive, there is self parking available for $15 per day.
Where can I stay while I attend the Happy Go Teach Conference?
If you’ll be needing a hotel room, there are several hotels within a few miles of the conference center. We would of course suggest you stay at the Crown Plaza LAX. We have some discounted room rates, so please send us an email at happygoteach | gmail ! com if you woudl like further details. 

What can/can’t I bring to the event?
As the conference gets closer, Jen & Kayla will send you an email of “Must Bring/May Bring” items! However, the most important intangible things you will bring to the conference are a positive attitude, an open mind, and a willingness to take risks and step outside your comfort zone with 99 other educators willing to do the same. You will be given 60 minutes for lunch, which will be “on your own”. There are lots of good eats right around the conference center. 

Will the conference start on time?
Well, if you know us already, you know we are all about urgency and efficiency. The conference will most definitely start on time, but with that said, the keynote will begin promptly at 9:00AM. But there will be opportunities for networking, group selfies & community building beginning at 8:15AM, so plan accordingly! In your seat, ready to go at 9:00AM.  Also, at 4:00PM when the conference is over, we’ll gather in the foyer for one large group photo! 
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
The morning of the conference, registration begins at 8:15AM. You can either bring your printed ticket with you containing the QR code, or pull up your confirmation email on your phone containing the QR code, or save the QR code in your Camera Note. Eventbrite also has an app.
What is the refund policy?
We really do not want to issue any refunds, so please be super sure you are going to attend before you sign up. If you have to cancel, do so before July 1, 2018 because, refunds will not be issued after July 1, 2018, meaning, there will be no cancellations refunds after July 1, 2018.  

How do I pay for the conference?
Paypal or credit card is the preferred form of payment for your conference registration. You are also given the option of paying with a school Purchase Order.  If you would like to pay with a school Purchase Order, it is your responsibility to get prior approval from your administrator to attend the conference.  Once you have his/her approval, and assurance that he/she will pay for your conference registration, go ahead and register here on Eventbrite and select “Other Payment Option” at checkout.  Once we see your registration and that you will be paying with a purchase order, we will generate a Purchase Order and send it to your email address.  You can then forward it to your administrator or school secretary who can pay with a school check or school credit card.  Note: if you pay by school purchase order, it will include a 3.5% invoice fee.

Will I get Continuing Education Credit for attending this conference?
Yes, once the conference is over, a Certificate of Completion will be emailed to you for 15 hours (1.5 CEU) of professional development.
Is this conference right for me?
This conference is for any educator or future educator that loves kids, is passionate about teaching, loves teaching kids, loves technology and social media, loves connecting and learning with other positive and forward thinking educators, believes that together we are stronger, believes that in the classroom everyone is a learner and everyone is a teacher, and that teachers have the power to change education for the greater good and #makeadifference in the lives of students every single day!  This conference is ideal for K-6 educators but we have had middle and high school teachers attend Happy Go Teach who have not been disappointed. We feel that the instructional principles, structures and pedagogy is applicable K-12.
