Nigeria international forward Samuel Kalu was conspicuously missing yesterday from the matchday squad of Bordeaux as they edged a five goal thriller 3-2 against Saint-Etienne in the Ligue 1.
Kalu gave a good impression of himself over the weekend when he was introduced as a substitute against PSG, a game which Bordeaux drew 2-2 to end the hundred percent start the league leaders and defending champions are enjoying.
Yesterday he was not listed in the matchday squad as Bordeaux move up to 10th on the log, five points behind 5th placed Marseille who were beaten 3-2 by Nantes in yesterday’s round of game.
Explaining his absence coach Ricardo Gomes explained that the Nigerian picked up a knock after coming on against PSG last weekend, hence his decision to leave him out of the team for the 3-2 win over Saint-Etienne.
Since the departure of coach Gustavo Poyet, Kalu has been ever present for Bordeaux both in the Europa League and Ligue 1 where he has played in 12 of their 16 games so far.
