Ahead of their return leg clash, coach of the Nigeria U20 team Paul Aigbogun has called three players who missed out on selection for the first leg of their 2019 AYC qualifiers clash against Guinea Bissau which ended 2-2.
Aigbogun watched helplessly from the touchline as his lads surrender a two goal lead to draw 2-2 against Guinea Bissau in Bissau in the race to be at next year Africa Youth Championship.
The Nigerians created lot of chances but failed to make proper use of them and it inevitably gave Guinea Bissau a route back into the game ahead of the return leg clash in Calabar.
Jesse Akila who was one of the players who was shockingly missing from the squad to Guinea Bissau returns to the team to boost the attack. He has already made his debut for Plateau United following the termination of his loan deal with MFM FC of Lagos.
Akila was very impressive in his first game for Plateau United which was their clash against Nasarawa United last weekend which they won 2-1. Although he wasn’t among the goal scorers he was very lively following his introduction in the second half.
The other player called up to the squad is Saidu Salisu, a giant utility player, who is predominantly a left footed player who recently joined Nigeria Professional League Champions Plateau United from low division side Aklosendi of Lafia.
A product of the famous GBS Academy of Jos. He is expected to also add firepower to the attack of the coach Paul Aigbogun team. Particularly with his size and abilities to hit the ball with pace and power.
Also called up to the squad is Mubarak Abdulsalam of Wikki Tourist and all three players are expected to be in the camp of the team, which has been moved to Calabar from Abuja where they were initially camped.
