The Android Wear brand that was introduced in 2014 is going away and will be substituted with a new name – Wear OS. Google’s website affirmed the change. Wear OS has a new slogan, “Make every minute matter.” It works both on Android and iOS. Google’s smartwatch platform has been given a more pliable sobriquet which does not link it to a specific mobile system just as Apple’s software platform on the Apple Watch is called watchOS.
