The test game between Nigeria and Liberia which was played in honour of the president of the country George Weah who incidentally played for 79 minutes during the game ended 2-1 in favour of Nigeria.
Owngoalnigeria.com watched the game via a live stream on Facebook and picked out five players who failed to hit the mark expected of them during the friendly game.
Kelechi Nwakali – His body language wasn’t the best. Did nothing special to influence the game until he was substituted. Looked uninterested for large spell of the game. Didn’t play like same who got people clamoring for his inclusion in Nigeria’s list for the World Cup after his performance against Atletico Madrid in a friendly game.
Joel Obi – Like Nwakali, the Chievo man didn’t get into the groove of the game. Probably disappointed at the level of opposition they were faced with. Even at that he should have done better.
Simy Nwankwo – Scored Nigeria’s second goal but missed a chance which looked way easier to score than miss and in the process cost Nigeria a third goal of the game. Didn’t do enough to suggest he will be a better option than Odion Ighalo in competitive games.
Kelechi Iheanacho – Another who played with caution and never really got involved. His introduction took the sting out of Nigeria’s near faultless first half display.
Oghenekaro Etebo – He was his lively self but he didn’t threaten enough to match his performance at the World Cup. Too early to judge but he seem to have lost a bit of his competitive edge following his move to English Championship side Stoke City
