
The high flying Nigeria U17 team who are through to the final of the WAFU B Championship which is the qualifiers for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations could be disqualified for allegedly fielding an ineligible player in yesterday’s semi final 2-1 win over Host Niger Republic.

Niger Republic protested Nigeria’s use of a player whose passport has expired in the game against them and WAFU, the body responsible for the organization of the tournament will sit on the protest today.
Ghana are already through to the final game against Nigeria on Saturday but Nigeria’s fate now lies in the hands of the disciplinary committee of the tournament.

The Nigeriens lodged the protest on the basis that,the player’s passport had expired thus he was not eligible to be part of the Nigeria team.
WAFU Disciplinary Committee will determine the case today.

A team source in the camp of the Nigerian team revealed that the player in question didn’t make the squad for yesterday’s game and his passport expired during the tournament.
The committee will reveal their verdict in few hours time.
