15 years of marriage is no joke! We’re excited to share these beautiful portraits from Olayemi and Adeyemi’s 15 years wedding vow renewal and their colourful Yoruba traditional wedding captured by Photos By Abi S. The groom shared how he met his lovely wife with us, read below and be inspired!

How they met:

I met my wife back in 2000 when I visited Lagos, Nigeria. Her elder brother is my friend in the Netherlands and he had sent some messages to their elder sister through me. So, after couples of days in Lagos, the elder sister together with my wife came to visit me.

Upon citing my eyes on my wife, I couldn’t resist her. Her statue, cool and quiet nature with positive vibes flowing from her encouraged me more to know her better. My visit for the three weeks was full of her thoughts. The thoughts are simply that this is the lady I want to be the mother of my children, this is the lady I want to be my better half, the lady I love to spend the rest of my life with and this is the lady I want to be calling my better half. Without much ado, I managed to get in touch with her again and there we are speaking almost every day on the phone trying to know each other better. The good thing with our contacts together is that she also like to know me and I was so impressed with her humble nature, desire to explore and most of all, embracing the situation the presents itself before her. Her work was so demanding that we only managed to see each other once before I went back to the Netherlands. But on getting to the Netherlands, we started communicating again and we wasted no time in organising a meet in the Netherlands.

After about few months, she came over on holidays to The Netherlands and we both explore European cities like Frankfurt in Germany, Brussels & Antwerp in Belgium, Madrid in Spain, Paris in France and many cities in Europe and in the Netherlands. She went back to Nigeria after 3 weeks of visit. I wasted no time in visiting Nigeria again in April 2003 because we really missed seeing each other coupled with the fact that both of us were very convinced of being together in a relationship; we decided to go and formalise the relationship and get it on a solid rock by visiting the Ikoyi Registry with some family members and few friends to register our togetherness and make it official.

Towards the end of 2003, she finally joined me in the Netherlands and since then we have been living as happy and contented husband and wife blessed with lovely children.

To God Be the Glory

XOXO
